3. Transactions on this site may be of three types; payment of annual membership subscriptions, payment for SCTE forthcoming events such as lecture meetings or social gatherings and payment for merchandise from the SCTE online shop.

3.1. Annual Subscriptions.
In accordance with the constitution, membership subscriptions are payable by anyone who is a member as at 1st April each year. Right click here to download the constitution. Subcriptions are payable in full and no refund will be given in the event of a member resigning during the year.

New members are liable, upon acceptance of the membership application, for payment of the full annual subscription for the current year, regardless of the period remaining.

3.2. Payment for Events.
Payment for attendance at events, such as non-member registration for lecture meetings or the SCTE annual dinner, are due, in full, upon booking. No refunds will be made in the event of the purchaser wishing to cancel, or failing to attend, but the names of the attendees may be changed, without cost, at any time.

In the unlikely event of an event being cancelled by the SCTE, all monies paid will be refunded in full.

3.3. Payment for Merchandise.
All merchandise offered from the SCTE online shop is normally available ex-stock and every effort will be made to despatch the goods within one week of the order being received. Anyone who has not received merchandise within 21 days should contact the SCTE office.

In the event of an item being temporarily out of stock, the purchaser will be contacted by the SCTE office to determine whether the order should be kept open until stock becomes available, or cancelled.

4. Returns.
All items are checked before despatch. In the unlikely event of an item being faulty, the SCTE office should be contacted immediately so that arrangements can be made for its return and replacement. The SCTE will meet the cost of returning faulty goods.

The SCTE is unable to offer an approval service for publications. In the event that a purchaser of a book or other publication wishes to return it, the SCTE may accept the return subject to the condition of the article or, in the case of software, an unbroken seal subject to a handling charge of up to 20% of the price of the item. The purchaser will be responsible for return postage.

8. Currency.
All items offered by the SCTE are priced in £Sterling and all payments must be made in £.

9. Legislation.
The SCTE online payment facility is provided in the United Kingdom and is subject to United Kingdom law. Purchasers will be advised if delivery of goods is prevented by government restrictions.
