The SCTE Golf Day, 2007.
5th SCTE Golf Day, 2007.
This years SCTE Golf day, organized by Frank Summerfield of Harmonic, was held on 27th July at Frank’s home course, Wokefield Park Golf Club in Berkshire. This year we had 8 teams taking part with teams sponsored by Ashridge, Aurora, Cisco SA, Cotswold, Harmonic, RGB, Seachange, Simac, Technetix, Teleste and the SCTE.
Unfortunately the event was held in the middle of the ‘great floods of 2007’ and whilst there were no overflowing rivers to contend with there was driving, torrential rain which reduced even the most stalwart golfers to exhausted wrecks.
One even complained that here had never lost a ball in a bunker before; the water was too deep to recover it!

Les Hines, Kevin Barrie, Ben Allwright and Tim McDonald.
In the face of such adversity there were still some outstanding performances with the Team Stableford competition being won by the Teleste/Technetix/Seachange team with a score of 80.Other Prizewinners

The award for the Longest Drive went to Dave Williams of Virgin Multimedia.
The 19th Hole
The day was rounded off with a three-course dinner in the clubhouse with trophies presented by the organizer Frank Summerfield & SCTE President Roger Blakeway. In addition to the superb trophies organized by Beverley there were a host of other prizes ranging from golf balls, caps, binoculars and champagne kindly donated by the sponsors.
Despite the atrocious weather (which turned into a July sunny evening as the last team left the 18th hole) everyone seemed to enjoy the day.© Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers.
