The SCTE Golf Day, 2005.
3rd SCTE Golf Day, 2005.
The third SCTE Golf Day was held on Thursday, 14th April at the Foxhills Club & Resort.
Once again, the day was organised by Frank Summerfield of Harmonic. Here's his report.![]()
A good array of trophies to be won.![]()
The excellent facilities at Foxhills added to the enjoyment of the day.A Full Day's Entertainment.
This year we had 24 players taking part in this prestigious Annual Tournament which was held at the superb Foxhills golf course in Surrey.
Teams were entered by the SCTE, Harmonic, Concurrent, TVC, and Scientific Atlanta. The weather was kind and we had no rain to speak of and plenty of sunshine in the afternoon, the courses were in superb condition.A Clean Sweep
The competition was fierce and the TVC won both the 9 Hole Texas Scramble in the morning with a net 15, and the Team Stableford competition in the afternoon with 108 points. Harmonic CS team coming a close second in both cases.![]()

Joe Doffing was closest to the pin.Other Winners
The Longest Drive went to Telewest’s Dave Williams and the Closest to the Pin went to ntl’s Joe (the Knife) Doffing.
Unfortunately Bev was not taking part this year due to another commitment but I’m sure she would have given Joe a good run for his money if she’d been around during the day.

Dave Williams had the longest drive.
Individual Stableford
The Individual Stableford competition, won last year by Colin Whitbread of Telewest, was fiercely fought over but the eventual winner this year was Sean Howard from Tel-Aer playing on the SCTE team with a very impressive 41 points. Sharing second place with 34 points were ntl’s Mark Burns , TVC’s Jonathan Rigby and Thomas & Bett’s Mike Boddington.![]()

Enjoying a well-earned dinner.Dinner and More Prizes
The day was rounded off with a superb three course dinner in Foxhill’s Library and the trophies were presented by the organizers Frank Summerfield & Bev Allgood.
A few random spot prizes donated by Harmonic and Concurrent were handed out to those with lesser golfing skills than the winners. All in all a good days golf in good company with good weather.
Plan Ahead
If you missed out this year, make sure you're in the competition in 2006.
Please contact Frank Summerfield to be sure of getting early details of next year's event.
