The SCTE Autumn Lecture Meeting, 2002.

INTRODUCING, MANAGING & TESTING NEW BROADBAND SERVICES This meeting, held on 26 September, 2002, was the SCTE's fourteenth full day lecture presentation and approximately 50 members and guests were present in the Council Chambers at the IEE building to hear five excellent presentations. Following is a summary of the presentations.

	Dispersion & Nonlinear Effects in Optical Fibres Arthur Moll, Marketing Development Manager, Networks Group NetTest This paper gave information on the meausrement of dispersion and non-linear effects in optical fibres. More information is available on the NetTest website.

HMS - Perceptions, Misconceptions, Reality John Mahan, Manager Products and Services AM Communications John Mahan is secretary of the HMS Sub-Committee of the US SCTE. The AM Communications website has more information.

	DWDM Transport Architectures for On-Demand Video Content Fernando Amendola, Harmonic Inc. Fernando is Product Manager, Digital Transport Systems, Broadband Access Networks Division Harmonic Inc. The Harmonic website has more information on DWDM.

Advanced CMTS Receiver Design and Performance Hiknet Sari, Chief Scientist, Cable Group Juniper Networks Hiknet Sari brought the delegates attention back to serious matters after the lunchbreak. The Juniper Networks website has more detail.

The status of the Society has, once again, brought a high quality Lecture Programme to its Members which would cost well in excess of £250 if it was presented commercially. The Lecture Meetings are just a part of the services we provide to all SCTE Members free of charge. Non-Members are also welcome to attend for the nominal charge of £50. Non-members attending two, or more, lecture meetings in one year, would make substantial savings by joining.
