SCTE HIGHLIGHTS PRACTICAL LIMITS IN IP NETWORKS IN ITS BENELUX LECTURE MEETING AT IBC
The European cable industry is pushing ahead with higher-speed broadband, Voice over IP, VOD, TV-on-demand, PVR and HDTV. Today’s cable professional needs to be aware of a range of different issues such as standards, installation, distribution, cost, service differentiation and network monitoring challenges.
These, and many other topics, will be covered at the IBC 2009 SCTE Benelux Lecture Meeting organised by SCTE, The Society for Broadband Professionals, on Tuesday 15 September 2009. Held during the IBC conference and exhibition at Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the event will highlight challenges and offer solutions to many of the issues facing cable engineers and manufacturers today. The theme of the event is ‘Practical Limits in IP Networks’.
Presentations at the Benelux Lecture Meeting will include:-
- “FttH; Network Topology and Consequences for Data Speed”
- “IPTV via DOCSIS 3.0”
- “Encoding; “MPEG-4, limits in compression”
- “Characterization of Upstream Lasers in DOCSIS 3.0 Channel Bonding”
The SCTE stages lecture meetings throughout the year at the IET in London, through its Benelux Group at selected European venues (including IBC this year) and in the Balkans. The SCTE’s Autumn London Lecture meeting will take place at the IET, Savoy Place on 6 October 2009. It is also sponsoring a Golf Day for members on 6 August 2009.
