The magnificent banquetThe Gorilla in our Midst
Teleste used the ANGA Convention this year to formally launch their EttH (Ethernet to the Home) offering. The possibility of using existing final coax drops to support ETTH led to a marketing concept of MSOs having enormous potential available to them and thus a sleeping Gorilla waiting to emerge. This concept is expounded in a specially produced DVD which Teleste are distributing to clients. It formed the theme for a magnificent ‘medieval’ banquet at the Wolkenburg Palace in the centre of Cologne which was held on the Wednesday evening and attended by over 230 guests and hosted by more than 30 Teleste specialists from across Europe.
The Cocktail Reception Party was enjoyed in the courtyard of the palace, behind the romantic walls of this baroque monastery. The main event of the evening started in the festive Saal with ‘The Virtual Giant’ film premiere. The CEO of Teleste, Jukka Rinnevaara and Senior Vice President Pekka Rissanen welcomed the international customers and introduced the The Virtual Giant / Ethernet to the Home (EttH) concept to the audience. ![]()

A fire-eater entertains the guestsA good mixture of lively multicultural conversations, delicious dinner and shows provided by the group "Schwartenhalss" musicians and dancers stimulated people to relax and enjoy the evening. The fire-eating act demonstrated the differing interpretations of Health & Safety that must exist across Europe whilst the exotic dancing provided sit-down cardio-vascular exercise.
Pekka appeared as himself and also in a Gorilla outfit; very scary (but he put it back on when requested) and the formal proceedings were followed by the traditional Finnish hospitality, which extended throughout the night until breakfast!
You can find out more about the potential for ETTH from the Teleste website.![]()
