The SCTE-Benelux Group Elects New Committee
Rien Baan, Secretary to the SCTE-Benelux Group reports that, at its meeting in October this year, a new committee was elected. The Benelux group is a self administered sub-committee of the SCTE Executive and is responsible for coordinating Society activities in the Benelux countries including the organisation of lectures such as those at IBC every year.
The group was formed in 2003 with Aart Verbree of CAIW as the Chairman, Rien Baan as Secretary and committee members Herman Grooten from Gouda Cable and Job Wehrmeijer of VECAI. The committee was later joined by Jan van Gameren from Tratec BV. During the past five years, it has successfully organised Spring Lectures (typically hosted by Vendors) and the IBC-SCTE Lectures.
Unfortunately, Aart Verbree finds that he cannot devote sufficient time to the group and, although he still wishes to serve on the committee, feels that he should stand down as chairman. Jan van Gameren and Job Wehrmeijer have also decided to step down.
The new committee consists of Herman Grooten, Aart Verbree and Rien Baan, who continues as Secretary, and its newly elected chairman Henk de Goede. Henk is ex-CEO and President of Casema, a past president of ECCA and a member several Supervisory Boards and Boards of Advice including the Dutch Governmental Expert Broadband Group.
The group intend to expand its reach by recruiting two more MSO-based members to serve on the committee.
