Welcome to the SCTE Website

The Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers is a learned society, formed in the UK in 1945, to raise the standard of cable telecommunication engineering.

Membership is open to anyone involved in cable telecommunications engineering with grades from Technician to Fellow.

The SCTE serves its members by organising lecture meetings, producing a journal containing technical articles, participating in events in the television and telecommunication industries and providing opportunities for members to meet on social occasions.

  What's on the Site?

This site is divided into two sections; one for members and the other for non-members who are considering applying for membership.

The members' area has information about the Society's lecture meetings, publications, social events and a large technical reference section. There is also information about the administration of the SCTE and its services to members.

The non-members area contains information about the SCTE intended for prospective members.

Membership of the Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers is seen as an important indicator of personal standing within the industry and is welcomed by almost all employers.

For those just entering the industry in a technical role, the non-members area contains details of the SCTE training courses which lead to recognised qualifications and meet the criteria for Technician Membership of the Society.

An online application form means applicants can easily submit their applications to join.

We hope you'll find your visit to this site useful.

Please go to the page of contact information if you want to get in touch.

  Site Navigation.

Navigation around the site is, principally, by means of the menu which appears on the left-hand side of every page. The actual menu displayed depends on the section of the website being visited so, for example, the individual lecture meeting pages are not visible when viewing a page of technical information. The main lecture page is available, however, so that access to an individual lecture page is only two clicks away.

A small graphic of a pointing hand * next to its name indicates the current page. We hope this will help you to find your way around the site.

Sometimes, links to other pages appear in the text. Where this happens these links appear as bold underlined text.
